Analysis Paralysis is something that happens to a lot of new internet marketers and causes you to not do anything because you want everything to be perfect. In some instances it might be that you keep trying to perfect something and eventually you make the problem so complicated that you that you never finish it. During the process of doing this you may also become side tracked and end up trying to learn how to do everything like using Photoshop or understanding CSS and programming HTML in Dreamweaver. The result of this is that it almost takes for ever to complete the task.
Another thing that happens with Analysis Paralysis is that the time is spent on something that is not even proven as a viable and profitable project. So you don’t know if your efforts are worth it.
It is very possible for you to get caught up in a never ending head mulling. At some point this has happened to everyone. The human brain is wired to think its way out of problems and situations to protect and keep us alive.
The result is that we end up in an endless loop of perfection, thinking and inaction in other words Analysis Paralysis.
The analysis paralysis is not just something that affects ‘normal’ situations that requires thinking such as online internet marketing. It also something that can affect people in as diverse things as Pro Sports. It might be that an action is choked due to Analysis Paralysis for a Pro Sports person at a key moment and they are unable to complete the task even though it is something that they have done many times before in practice and competition. This is due to them thinking about the fans and the situation and they buckle under the pressure because they are scarred of failing to deliver the desired outcome. Surprisingly this often strikes the very people whose career has been founded on their repeated and consistent ability to deliver in such situations in the past.
So Analysis Paralysis often happens to people where they have to deliver a successful outcome and they don’t want to fail. This means that there is a lot of pressure on its success. This extra pressure means that they can think themselves out of completing the required task. Whist this instinctively makes complete sense it is not the best solution.
The Analysis Paralysis trap is something that is fallen in to by intelligent people that have often in the past progressed their careers or lives by thinking. The effect of this is that people that have previously been successful in a profession or way of life may end up spending far too long thinking about something and try to over analyse the best way to do something that they don’t understand. So a lot of time goes into thought and no time goes into action because of the fear of failing.
